A dialogue in fibre exploring the interchange between story and image

The works in this exhibition explore the significance and rich diversity in forms of communication and conversation. Each of the 22 artworks is embedded with its maker’s mark, celebrating the similarities and differences in the artist’s hand. The works utilise a wide variety of fibre materials and techniques to interpret this central theme, interpreted and adapted by each of the 18 artists.
The exhibition includes imagery that ranges from social commentary, playful views of our world, to celebrations of lives and the people we know and care about. As an established group, untethered strives to keep the momentum of collective artmaking by working within gallery contexts and exploring different personal and social ideas. The ‘Alternate’ series of exhibitions differ from the traditional untethered exhibitions in that they are based on a unifying framework – a commonality of form, size, or premise.
